The first time I enjoyed an Aperol Spritz was while visiting Positano, and I’ve been a fan ever since. In Italy, an Aperol Spritz is traditionally served as an aperitivo—a pre-dinner drink meant to be enjoyed slowly alongside light bites while gathering with friends and family. Light, bubbly, and perfectly balanced with bittersweet orange notes, it’s a cocktail that captures the relaxed spirit of the Italian coast and brings a little bit of la dolce vita to any occasion.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

- APEROL: The star of the show. Aperol is an Italian aperitif known for its vibrant orange color and bittersweet flavor, with notes of orange, rhubarb, and herbs. It gives the cocktail its signature taste and beautiful sunset hue.
- PROSECCO: This sparkling wine from the Veneto region of Italy, named after the village of Prosecco, is known for its light, refreshing taste. Its crisp acidity and fine bubbles make it an excellent base for cocktails. No need to use anything pricey.
- CLUB SODA: A splash of club soda lightens the drink and adds extra effervescence. It’s the finishing touch that makes an Aperol Spritz crisp, refreshing, and easy to sip.
- ORANGE SLICE: The traditional garnish for an Aperol Spritz. Fresh orange slices enhance the citrus notes in the Aperol while adding a beautiful pop of color to the glass.
